Richard Sayama

Originally from Honolulu, Hawai’i, Richard Sayama started dancing at the age of 16 in high school. He earned his double major in B.F.A Modern Dance and B.A Business Arts & Management from Marymount Manhattan College. He had the opportunity to attend intensive such as Parsons, Limón, Movement Invention Project, and Paul Taylor. His dance film “Braid” was featured at Movement Invention Project 2018’s Showcase.

Immediately after college, Richard started his professional dance career with Alison Cook Beatty Dance and H.T. Chen & Dancers. He has had the privilege of touring with Jon Lehrer Dance Company to Buffalo and Geneva NY, Newport RI, Orlando FL, and Philadelphia PA.

Currently, Richard works with Alison Cook Beatty Dance and Jon Lehrer Dance Company, and also project-based with General Mischief Dance Theater Group, XY Dance Projects, and Obremski Works. He has finished seasons with H.T Chen & Dancers, Rock Dance Collective. He has had the pleasure of performing works by Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish, Elisabeth Motley, Maria Torres, and many more. Richard is honored and thrilled to expand and cultivate his dance career through One Day Dance.
