Catherine Messina, a graduate of Emory University, professionally choreographs under the company name rogue wave. Receiving several festival invitations, the company has performed throughout New York, Atlanta, Richmond, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. This includes theatres such as Dixon Place, Arts on Site, The Tank, Georgia Tech's Ferst Center for Performing Arts, Vino Theatre, Mark Morris, mignolo dance center and Emory University at festivals such as Koresh Dance Showcase, Kun-Yang Li Inhale Festival, Dance Canvas, Yes! Dance Festival, Hot Dance, 8-in-show, and the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy, to name a few. She is a recipient of grant support from the City of Atlanta and the Puffin Foundation, and has been artist-in-residence at Hambidge Cross-Pollination Art Lab and Harlem Pilates. She has set works on companies Suttle Dance, Open Dance Ensemble, and is thrilled to be working with One Day Dance. Community work is important to her and seen through her creation of a twice-a-year outdoor dance festival - Fall for Fall/Spring for Spring and co-leading the unKEMpT Dance Festival with Emmy Wildermuth. Beyond this, she dances for other organizations including for Yoshito Sakuraba, Fern Katz, Yuki Ishiguro, and Anna Patterson, previously for Jillian Mitchell (Kit Modus), Ruben Julliard, George Staib, and more., She has experience in lighting design, teaching, and technical work.
